Well, it's been a while, due to circumstances beyond our control, but now we're back and raring to go for the 8th Annual Alameda Pipe-athon on New Years Eve.
Andy MacKay will be playing Auld Lang Syne on the bagpipes in every bar in Alameda during the evening, to bring a wee bit of Scottish New Year Cheer to all, and will be fundraising for a worthy cause, American Cancer Society. You can donate online here and also on the night as we make our way around the City of Alameda, starting around 6pm in McGee's on Park Street. Here's the likely order of bars we'll be playing at (some tbc):
McGee's, Park Street Tavern, Alameda Island Brewing Co, Preacher's Daughter, Speisekammer, Lemon Drop, Karibu by Wachira, Star Pizza, Hobnob, Lucky 13, Club House, The Benton, Forbidden Island, Swell, The Boathouse, Wally's, Fireside, 1400 Bar & Grill.
The 7 previous Annual Pipe-athons have raised over $20,000 altogether for ACS, so let's keep the momentum going! The initial goal is $2,023 (geddit?) but let's blast that into next year and keep going!
Please donate what you can and have a wonderful New Year!
Oh, and Hogmabay?
Hogmanay = New Year in Scotland (the best place to be!)
Hogmabay = Scottish New Year in the Bay Area!
We'd like to dedicate this year's Pipe-athon in memory of our dear friend Margaret Collins, who sadly lost her battle with cancer on 12/30/22. Our love to her family.
Many thanks!
Team Pipe-athon
